In Castle Rock, we honor the heroes who serve our community, but the current memorial to our fallen firefighter, Lieutenant Richard A McConnell, doesn’t capture the deep meaning of his sacrifice or the sacrifices of others who serve.
Located at Station 155, the current memorial sits at the edge of our town, out of sight for most residents. While the memorial at the fire station holds personal significance for the department, it doesn’t do justice to the lasting impact of Lt. McConnell’s life or the courage shown by all who give everything to protect us.
Help us bring the legacy of our fallen heroes into the heart of Castle Rock.

We are currently in the design phase of the project, and the memorial will serve as a physical and tactile representation of the sacrifice of our fallen members.

Lt. McConnell tragically lost his life after responding to an incident on February 3, 1985. Richard was a husband, father, friend, and a mentor to his colleagues. His sacrifice deserves to be honored in a way that reflects the true spirit of our community.

The project will be entirely funded by donations from supporters ranging from the corporate level to individual donors. Our goal is to raise $200,000.
Corporate donations can be made by contacting Seth Roan (President) at 303-522-2491 or Lori Kania (Secretary) at 303-660-1066.
Those who donate $300 or more will have the opportunity to add a personal message to one of the commemorative bricks forming the foundation of the statue.
All donations to the Foundation are tax-deductible
